RIO DE JANEIRO, Nov. 27 (Xinhua) -- Uruguayan playmaker Agustin Canobbio scored twice as Fluminense rose to fifth in Brazil's Serie A on Thursday with a 6-0 home rout of Sao Paulo.
Canobbio opened the scoring from the penalty spot at Rio's Maracana Stadium after Alan Franco handled the ball in the area.
Matheus Martinelli doubled the lead by pouncing on a loose ball to fire in from the edge of the six-yard box.
Midfielder Nonato made it 3-0 when he combined with Kevin Serna and charged past his marker before slotting in from a tight angle.
Fluminense was irrepressible, and John Kennedy extended his side's lead as he squeezed between two defenders and fired into the far corner.
Canobbio struck again in the 77th minute, latching onto Nonato's floating diagonal pass and showing deft control before angling a clinical finish past goalkeeper Young Moraes.
Serna completed the rout in the 87th minute, prodding in from six yards after Yeferson Soteldo's cut-back from the left side of the penalty area.
Fluminense now has 58 points from 36 games, 10 more than eighth-placed Sao Paulo with two matchdays remaining. ■
