RIO DE JANEIRO, Nov. 26 (Xinhua) -- Adam Bareiro scored late as Fortaleza kept alive its survival hopes with a 1-0 win at Bragantino in Brazil's Serie A on Wednesday.
The visitors took the lead in the 76th minute when Paraguayan forward Bareiro combined with Lucas Crispim before his long-range effort deflected in off a defender.
The hosts controlled more than two thirds of possession but lacked a cutting edge in attack as Fortaleza secured its ninth win of the campaign and second in a row.
Martin Palermo's side sits 18th in the league with 37 points from 35 games, two points shy of the safety zone with three matchdays left in the season.
The last four teams in the 20-team standings will be relegated to Serie B next year.
Bragantino is 10th with 45 points and remains in the qualifying places for next year's Copa Sudamericana. ■
